The co-mayor of Siirt from the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Sofya Alağaş, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for membership in a terrorist organization during a hearing at the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court.

During her journalistic activities, the co-mayor of Siirt, Sofya Alağaş, was tried on charges of "being a member of an organization." The 7th hearing of the case against her was held today.

THE DECISION WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY

In the hearing held at the 5th Heavy Criminal Court of Diyarbakır, Alağaş was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison. Sofya Alağaş did not attend the hearing, but her lawyers were present.

Sofya Alağaş was born in 1990 in the Erkent village of the Pervari district of Siirt. In 1993, she moved to Adana with her family, where she completed her primary, secondary, and high school education.
