The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, made noteworthy statements ahead of the party's congress trial on September 15. Özel stated that he had a meeting with former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, saying, "Kemal Bey did not grant an appointment to the trustee in Istanbul. From now on, I do not foresee him accepting the trusteeship. The party public is very sensitive on these matters. Therefore, we need to speak carefully."
After the appointment of Gürsel Tekin as the trustee of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, the focus has turned to the convention trial on September 15.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who stated that they decided to hold a rally in Ankara a day before the convention trial, made striking statements to Saygı Öztürk, a columnist for Sözcü Newspaper.
STRIKING STATEMENT FROM ÖZEL
Özel, who mentioned that he spoke with former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, implied that Kılıçdaroğlu might follow a strategy contrary to the widespread belief in the public.
"I DO NOT EXPECT HIM TO ACCEPT THE TRUSTEESHIP"
Özel said, "Kemal Bey did not give an appointment to the Istanbul trustee. From now on, I do not expect him to accept the trusteeship. The party public is very sensitive on these issues. Therefore, we need to speak carefully. I do not want to target anyone because it leads to unnecessary outbursts of anger."

The party needs unity and integrity. I called Kemal Bey a few days ago. I invited him to the event for the anniversary of our party's founding. We had a very sincere conversation. Hopefully, these discussions will die down in a few days. The old and the new will all come together to support our party," he said.
