After the arrest of journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy and anchor Ela Rumeysa Cebeci on various charges in a drug investigation, attention turned to the last media group both names worked for, Habertürk. While various speculations and allegations regarding the Habertürk media group were being discussed, a statement was released.
A STATEMENT FROM HABERTÜRK
The media group, which includes Show TV, Bloomberg HT, and HT Sports, stated in a written announcement: "Recently, it has become necessary to make a statement regarding the speculations made about our institution on social media platforms. First and foremost, we emphasize our trust in the Turkish judiciary and believe that justice will be served as a result of the ongoing investigations, and we respectfully follow this process.
"SPECULATIONS DEEPLY SADDEN OUR EMPLOYEES"
These speculations deeply sadden 1310 media workers, including reporters, directors, presenters, editors, and others working in our media group, as well as their families.
"RESPECT SHOULD BE SHOWN FOR THEIR EFFORTS"
It should not be forgotten that the activities of our media workers, who work solely for the purpose of journalism, are also a public service. In this context, we would like to emphasize our sensitivity regarding the respect that should be shown for the professional careers, family and social circles, and efforts of our valuable colleagues who perform public duties.
As always, we respectfully announce to the public that we will continue to fulfill our duties in adherence to the principles of the press, together with our institutional structure and all our media worker friends."
