After the warnings from the Meteorology and the Governorship, strong winds and a storm became effective in Istanbul starting from the evening hours. Due to the storm, many citizens struggled to walk, and motorcycle couriers had difficulty staying upright on two wheels. In Esenyurt, Beylikdüzü, and Küçükçekmece, the roofs and exterior cladding of buildings were blown away, while bricks fell from construction sites in Arnavutköy.
After the warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology and the Istanbul Governorship, strong winds and storms began to affect the megacity from the evening hours.
EVEN WALKING IS DIFFICULT
During the storm, it was observed that citizens had difficulty walking, and motorcycle couriers struggled to stay upright on two wheels.
ROOFS FLEW AWAY
In the Esenyurt district, the roof of a building was blown off due to the severe wind and storm affecting Gazi Street. As the pieces of the flying roof fell into the middle of the street, there were no casualties or injuries. Police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene upon the residents' notification. While the police closed the street to traffic, the fire crews began working to remove the roof debris. Again, in the Küçükçekmece district, the flying roof of an apartment on İkitelli Street fell onto parked vehicles.
BRICKS FELL FROM A CONSTRUCTION SITE IN ARNAVUTKÖY
Again, in the evening hours, due to the severe wind in the Arnavutköy Central Neighborhood, pieces of bricks fell onto the street from a construction site. The absence of anyone in the vicinity at that moment prevented a disaster. Moments when the sign of a pharmacy in Arnavutköy was torn off and swayed due to the severe storm were also captured by a mobile phone camera.
AN EXTERIOR CLADDING OF A HOUSE IN BEYLİKDÜZÜ WAS REMOVED
During the storm, the exterior cladding of an apartment located on Akdeniz Street in Beylikdüzü Barış Neighborhood was torn off. As the cladding detached from the building and fell onto the street, those moments were captured by a citizen.
