Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan stated that after his prayer for snow during his Umrah visit, 1.5 meters of snow fell. Özcan said, "Allah has accepted my prayers. We exaggerated the prayer. But you have been praying little for years, praying little. When you get there, suddenly you load it up. In the end, 1.5 meters of snow falls, you see." Upon hearing Özcan's comments about the snow, people couldn't help but say, "Pray for us too, Mr. Mayor."
During the first session of the Bolu Municipal Council in January, Mayor Tanju Özcan's prayer for snow in Beytullah during his Umrah visit became the main agenda item.
Due to the heavy snowfall that affected the city throughout the past week, the snow thickness in the city center exceeded 65 centimeters in some places, while in higher areas it surpassed 1.5 meters. The 84.4 mm of snow that fell per square meter negatively impacted life in Bolu.
"WE MAY HAVE EXAGGERATED THE PRAYER"
Tanju Özcan stated that he made a "Snow prayer" for Bolu during his Umrah visit. Mayor Özcan said, "I prayed for snow during Umrah, 'Oh God, give snow to my homeland, Oh Lord, grant abundance and blessings.' God has accepted my requests and prayers. We may have exaggerated the prayer. But for years, you say pray less, pray less. Then when you get there, you suddenly load it all at once. As a result, 1.5 meters of snow is falling."
Those who heard Tanju Özcan's speech said, "Pray for us too, Mr. Mayor."
