A ceremony was held for the master artist Volkan Konak, who passed away on stage, at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque in Levent, Istanbul. Tensions arose as many of Volkan Konak's fans attended the ceremony in large numbers. During the tension, police barricades were knocked down, and some citizens reacted to the imposition of barricades.
Famous singer Volkan Konak, known as the Son of the North, suffered a heart attack on stage during his program in Cyprus. Despite all interventions, Konak could not be saved and passed away at the age of 58.
FIRST CEREMONY IN ISTANBUL
Volkan Konak's funeral was brought to Istanbul after the autopsy procedures were completed. The artist's funeral prayer will be held today at noon at Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque.
"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME VOLKAN?"
At the ceremony at Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque in Levent, Istanbul, Selma Konak struggled to stand by her husband's coffin. The heartbreaking cry of Volkan Konak's wife of 33 years, Selma Konak, "How could you do this to me Volkan?" was devastating. The artist's eldest daughter, Şimal, fainted.
CROWDING OCCURRED, POLICE BARRICADE WAS BROKEN
Many famous names such as Mehmet Aslantuğ, Perihan Savaş, Kutsi, Şevval Sam, Erol Evgin, Berkay Şahin and his wife Özlem Ada Şahin, Ahmet Selçuk İlkan, Melek Baykal, and Sinan Özen attended Volkan Konak's funeral ceremony; however, due to the crowd, a stampede occurred. During the stampede, police barricades were broken, and some citizens reacted to the barricades being placed.
WILL BE BURIED IN MAÇKA
Volkan Konak will be buried next to his father in Konakoğlu Family Cemetery after the second funeral ceremony to be held tomorrow at noon at Maçka Central Mosque in his hometown of Trabzon.
