In an incident that occurred in Kepez, Antalya, physical education teacher Gürol Güven fell to the ground following an argument. At that moment, Güven was struck by a passing car and was taken to the hospital, but could not be saved. After the incident, the driver who fled was identified through the examination of security camera footage and was taken into custody. The driver was referred to the courthouse on charges of 'causing death by negligence.'
After a dispute that occurred late at night in Antalya Kepez, a physical education teacher, Gürol Güven, who fell to the ground, was run over by a car. The 51-year-old teacher, who was taken to the hospital, lost his life; the fleeing driver was caught.
HE COULDN'T GET HIS WIFE INTO THE CAR, THE TEACHER FELL AND FAINTED
The incident occurred around 02:00 on February 14 in the Barış Manço Boulevard of Çankaya Neighborhood in Kepez district. According to the information obtained, it is claimed that a dispute broke out for an unknown reason between Gürol Güven (51), a physical education teacher at Aksu Pınarlı Republic Primary School, and a woman believed to be his wife. After the argument, the woman, who did not let Güven into her car, attempted to leave the scene with a car whose license plate could not be taken, during which Gürol Güven, who was trying to get into the vehicle, lost his balance and fell to the ground, fainting.
DIED IN THE HOSPITAL
Citizens who heard the sounds of the argument and saw a person lying motionless on the ground reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center, while health teams were dispatched to the scene. When the health teams arrived at the given address, a white vehicle whose license plate could not be taken passed over Gürol Güven, who was lying motionless on the ground, as they approached the scene from the opposite lane. Immediately after the accident, Güven, who received first aid at the scene by the health teams that arrived, could not be saved despite all interventions at Antalya City Hospital.
THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS CAUGHT
While Güven's lifeless body was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution morgue, the teams of the Kepez Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau initiated work to capture the fleeing driver after the incident. The teams examined the security cameras in the area and identified the person who fled the scene after the accident as Mehmet C. Mehmet C., who was caught and detained by the Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau teams yesterday, was taken to the police station for questioning. After his procedures, Mehmet C. was referred to the courthouse on charges of 'causing death by negligence.'
