Ohio billionaire and real estate investor Larry Connor is preparing to visit the Titanic wreckage. Connor will dive to a depth of 12,400 feet to the Titanic's wreckage with a luxury two-person submarine worth $20 million.

Real estate company owner and co-founder of Triton Submarines, a maritime company, Larry Connor and Patrick Lahey, plan to take a submarine trip to explore the Titanic wreckage. Billionaire Connor aims to prove that this visit can be done "safely" by going to the Titanic wreckage with a two-person submarine after the Titanic tragedy.

Last June, five people, including Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate submarine, lost their lives in an explosion. After the tragedy, the preparation of the American billionaire to visit the Titanic wreckage with a two-person submarine attracted great attention.

Connor, together with Patrick Lahey, co-founder of Triton Submarines, plans to dive to a depth of 12,400 feet (3,779,520m) to the Titanic wreckage with a luxury two-person submarine worth 20 million dollars. It is claimed that the Triton 4000/2 Abyssal Explorer submarine designed by Lahey can make this journey multiple times.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Connor said, "I want to show people that despite the ocean being extremely powerful, it can be wonderful and enjoyable when approached correctly, and it can truly be life-changing."

Connor said that he started planning this journey a few days after the explosion of OceanGate Titan and called Lahey to build a better submarine. Lahey said, "We need to build a submarine that can safely dive into these depths repeatedly and show the world that Titan is a mechanism."

A spokesperson for Connor's company stated that the mentioned journey will only take place after being fully approved by a maritime organization. However, no date has been given for when the visit will take place.

Lahey criticized OceanGate's safety standards and described CEO Stockton Rush's business standards as "quite aggressive." The waiver that Titan passengers had to sign stated several times that passengers could die and that the submarine was "experimental." Industry experts and an employee had expressed their concerns about the safety of the ship before the explosion in 2023.
