OPENED A BANK ACCOUNT AT HIS FRIEND'S INSISTENCE
M.K., who is being tried for allegedly defrauding a person named A.N. over the phone in Kayseri, appeared before the judge at the Kayseri 8th High Criminal Court. M.K., who is detained in Konya for another crime, participated in the hearing via SEGBİS.
M.K. stated in his defense that his friend H.Ü. told him that he could rent out his bank account, and upon this, he opened the account but never withdrew any money from it; he said, "When I was called for a statement, I learned that there were about 90 victims. Although the accounts belong to me, I have no knowledge about the money inflows. I am innocent, but I cannot explain my innocence."
SENTENCED TO 4 YEARS IN PRISON FOR FRAUD
M.K. stated that H.Ü., who had him open the account, frequently used his phone for different reasons, asserting that he is innocent. M.K. also added that he could not compensate the losses of those who were harmed, despite wanting to, due to his financial situation.
As a result of the trial, the court panel sentenced M.K. to 4 years in prison and a judicial fine of 22,000 lira regarding the incident in which A.N. was harmed.
