The moments when Tanju Mete, who could not use the ramp with his wheelchair and could not cross the road, tried to literally smash a car were recorded second by second by mobile phones. The incident occurred yesterday evening in the Kültür neighborhood of Muratpaşa district in Antalya. Tanju Mete was shocked to see a vehicle parked in front of the ramp designated for the disabled. The disabled citizen, who was in a wheelchair and could not cross the road because he could not use the ramp, was almost driven to madness. Mete first damaged the windshield wipers of the parked vehicle and, unable to control his nerves, began to hit the car with a hard object. LOCAL CITIZENS INTERVENEDA citizen who first smashed the front lights, then the door windows, and then the taillights with a hammer in his hand was removed from the area by the intervention of those around him. Returning from the ramp he could not access, Mete used the pedestrian crossing to use the other ramp across the road and left the scene. "I CALLED TWICE BUT THE POLICE DID NOT COME"Describing what happened, Tanju Mete said that he had to go out onto the road when he saw the vehicle placed on the ramp while he was on his way home and that he had narrowly avoided accidents in traffic. He stated that he took photos of the parked vehicle and explained the situation to the police at a point about 500 meters away, saying, "They told me to call 112. I called and started waiting here again, but no one came. While I continued to wait here, people were flowing past me like a flood, and I was helplessly waiting for the vehicle to be removed. I was angry when I was in danger of an accident, but I held myself back. I called a second time, and again the police did not come; this time, people passing by here provoked me a bit by saying, 'They always do this, can a car be parked here?' and I got angry. I know what I did was wrong. I am not a violent person; I am someone who stands against it. Actually, it was a very unnecessary thing, I am aware of that, but seeing cars stacked on ramps while walking around this neighborhood, and people even parking on the sidewalk after the ramp, made me furious. I did something wrong last night, I admit it, but as a disabled person, I think I have the right to get angry and upset," he said. "THIS IS NOT MY WHEELCHAIR, IT'S MY LEG"Expressing that he was very upset by the comments made under the video shared on social media about those moments, Mete said, "They said, 'Thug', 'God made you do this for that reason', 'It's good that this happened to you, what would you have done if it hadn't?' I was very upset. There are those in the comments who want to break my wheelchair, who want to harm it. This is not my wheelchair or my car; this is my leg. You are trying to break my leg. When a normal person breaks their leg, they can walk with a wheelchair or crutches, but when you break my leg, I cannot walk at all," he said. "IT WAS A RENTAL CAR"Mete added that they went to the police together with the driver after the incident, saying, "The owner of the vehicle did not say much because it was not his car; he did not fight or argue. I did not argue with him either. We went to the police together, and our statements were taken. The vehicle was a rental car. The company owner will probably sue the renter, and the renter will sue me," he said.
