An interesting incident occurred in Paraguay, a South American country. The football team called Libertad de Pirayu won the league championship for the first time in 94 years. However, the team faced a great danger during the championship celebrations.
During the open-top bus tour organized to celebrate the championship, the football players and fans were filled with great enthusiasm. However, this joy suddenly turned into fear. The championship trophy, which was lifted into the air during the celebrations, got caught in high voltage power lines.
The footage of the incident quickly spread on social media. In the video, the sparks caused by the trophy touching the power lines were clearly visible. The local people quickly realized the danger and took action. A brave person wearing rubber gloves and rubber-soled shoes tried to save the trophy with a long pole to avoid the risk of electric shock.
The president of Libertad de Pirayu club, Juan Carlos Romero, described their fear during the incident as follows: "Everything was in a festive atmosphere. But suddenly, we heard the sound of sparks and saw that the trophy got caught in the power lines. We all froze and were very scared."
Romero attributed their fortunate escape from this dangerous incident to luck and their beliefs: "The day before, we had visited the Caacupe Basilica. I think the Virgin Mary of Caacupe protected us," he said.
This incident showed that even sports celebrations can involve unexpected dangers. Fortunately, this championship celebration in Paraguay did not end in tragedy, and the Libertad de Pirayu team was able to celebrate their historic victory by avoiding the danger of electric shock.
