FATHER KIDNAPPED THE CHILD FROM HIS MOTHER

Umut K. (33), who lives in the Mustafakemalpaşa district, started living with Rebecca S. (30) in Germany, where he went to work. The couple had a baby boy in 2018. A year later, after separating from his father, Umut K. came to Bursa to visit his mother Hanife S., who had remarried, along with his German girlfriend and 1-year-old son N.S. Deciding not to return to Germany, Umut K. told Rebecca S. to leave their son with him and go back to her country. Following a dispute, Umut K. allegedly decided to kidnap his son. He left N.S. with his mother Hanife S. and wanted him to be taken to a relative's house, then went to the market with Rebecca S. When they returned, Rebecca S. could not find her son at home, who was reported missing, and went to the police to file a complaint.

FATHER DIED 2 YEARS AGO

Umut K. passed away 2 years ago due to a heart attack. After his grandmother Hanife S. also failed to appear in court, a search warrant was issued for her. Hanife S., who was taken into custody, was released on the condition that she report to the police once a week to sign in. When Hanife S. did not attend other hearings, Mustafakemalpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor Yusuf Canik, who was suspicious of her situation, informed Bursa Provincial Police Chief Kadir Gökce. Subsequently, Hanife S. was placed under surveillance 24 hours a day by a special team of 6 people, using drones.

"THE FIRST THING THEY NEED TO DO IS TO ESTABLISH A BOND WITH THE CHILDREN"

Child psychologist Burçak Çağla, speaking on the subject, stated, "The first thing psychologists should do to draw a roadmap for children who do not receive communication support and love from their parents until a certain age is to establish a bond with the children. Because, until now, they have not been able to express themselves as they have not established a bond with their own parents or the adults caring for them. The expert should help them and say, 'I am with you no matter what happens.' Even if they are silent, they should encourage them by saying, 'I will sit next to you.' By conducting many intelligence tests on the child, data can be collected, and a clear roadmap can be drawn accordingly. The first thing that needs to be done is to establish a bond," she said.
