The decision to postpone the lawsuit filed by the CHP seeking the annulment of the congress to October 24 was evaluated in the CHP's Central Executive Board (MYK). Officials who assessed the decision as "incomplete but positive" stated, "The ordinary congress process is underway. There will be no obstacles remaining before the ordinary congress. Thus, the discussions about trustees will also come to an end."
The Ankara 42nd Civil Court postponed the case regarding the cancellation of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress held on November 4-5, 2023, and the 21st Extraordinary Congress scheduled for April 6, 2025. The hearing will continue on Friday, October 24. The CHP learned about the postponement of the case while the MYK meeting was ongoing. According to the information obtained, the decision to postpone the case was evaluated in the MYK. According to party sources, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel welcomed the decision by stating, "This was expected and what should have been."
"WE WELCOME THE DECISION POSITIVELY"
CHP officials evaluated the decision as "Incomplete but positive," stating, "The congress case will continue to be held over the party like a threat." Party officials said, "The postponement is positive, but the requests from the judge in court and the responses given by the judge to those requests are more important. The issue of precaution has been resolved. The judge says he did not bring that request to the agenda by saying, 'I have already rejected this.' This means that until the case is over, this request will not be positively received. It is also a positive thing that one of the complainants has withdrawn their complaint. If there were a judge like the one in Istanbul, the case would have been concluded more quickly. In this sense, although this case itself is political, we welcome the decision made in Ankara positively," they stated.
"TURKEY'S REAL AGENDA IS THE ECONOMY"
On the other hand, it was emphasized in the MYK that the real agenda of Turkey, which includes economy, health, foreign policy, and security issues, should be discussed. It was reported that these issues would be highlighted in the rallies that the CHP will hold every weekend in different provinces and every Wednesday in a district of Istanbul. Party sources stated, "Turkey's real agenda is the economy. We will continue on our path."
"THE DEBATES ON TRUSTEESHIPS WILL COME TO AN END"
Emphasizing that the ordinary congress process is underway, officials stated that the provincial congresses would be completed before the date of the congress case set for October 24. Party sources, highlighting that a new delegation will be formed in the provincial congresses, said, "There will be no obstacles before the ordinary congress. Thus, the debates on trusteeships will also come to an end."
