According to AKOM's one-week report, temperatures in Istanbul are rapidly dropping; starting from Friday, they will fall below 10 degrees, and after Sunday evening, they will decrease to below 5 degrees, reaching "snow values." Heavy snowfall is expected in Istanbul on Monday, while Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen announced that the probability of snow on New Year's Eve has risen to 60%.
According to the weekly weather forecast report published by AKOM, the temperature in Istanbul today will reach a maximum of 13 degrees and a minimum of 9 degrees. The report states that strong northern winds (20-50 km/h) will be effective throughout the week, and intermittent showers are expected.
WILL DROP BELOW 5 DEGREES
In AKOM's warning, it was stated that the current temperatures, which are above seasonal norms in the range of 11-13 degrees, are expected to decrease below 10 degrees starting from Friday, and drop below 5 degrees from Sunday evening, reaching snow levels.
BE CAREFUL ON MONDAY
According to the report, on Monday, December 29, the temperature is expected to be a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 4 degrees, with a warning of "rain mixed with snow and snow in higher areas."
ORHAN ŞEN: SNOW PROBABILITY HAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY
Meteorology Expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated on his social media account that snowfall is possible in the western regions on the days extending from December 30 to January 1. Şen noted that the probability, previously assessed at 50%, has increased to 60%, adding that the cold air mass descending from Siberia along with the northeast wind increases the likelihood of snow on New Year's Eve across the entire Marmara region, the Western Black Sea, and Central Anatolia.
