The delegation consisting of DEM Party's Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Van MP Pervin Buldan, and former Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk, who was appointed as a trustee, visited the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı to start political party tours on January 2 to convey Öcalan's messages. The delegation, which shared Abdullah Öcalan's messages during the visits, requested support for the new process. The DEM Party delegation completed its meetings with the parties represented in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on January 7. The delegation visited former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, who is detained in Edirne F-Type Prison, today. The DEM Party İmralı delegation entered the prison in a convoy around 13:13. "DEMİRTAŞ'S SUPPORT FOR THE PROCESS IS COMPLETE"After the meeting, Sırrı Süreyya Önder stated, "Especially on television, there are speculations about this issue. There are criticisms that the process is not being conducted transparently. Friends, there is no need for these. These are not things that serve the peace that is coming. It is something that has been going on for 40 years, not a paint bucket. We are dealing with it with an effort. There is nothing that would require friends to have any doubts about the process in this sense. If we solve it now, we will solve it with both sides. If we miss this opportunity, 72 parties will be involved. For the first time, we have come together on such a broad platform. After visiting Ms. Figen tomorrow, we will make a comprehensive statement in Ankara." Önder said that after the meeting, Demirtaş's support for the process is complete. FIGEN YÜKSEKDAĞ WILL BE VISITED ON SUNDAYThe DEM Party İmralı delegation will also visit former HDP Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ, who is detained in Kandıra, on Sunday, January 12. HOW DID THE İMRALI PROCESS START?The process began with the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on October 22. In his statement at his party's group meeting, Bahçeli said, "If the isolation of the terrorist leader is lifted, let him come and speak at the TBMM DEM Party Group Meeting, proclaiming that terrorism has completely ended and the organization has been dissolved. If he shows this determination and resilience, the legal regulation regarding the use of the 'right to hope' should be made, and the way for him to benefit from it should be opened wide." Shortly after this statement, Bahçeli called for the DEM Party delegation to be allowed to go to İmralı. On November 26, the DEM Party applied to the Ministry of Justice to hold a meeting with terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. On December 27, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that the DEM Party's request for a meeting had been positively responded to. Following the permission, the DEM Party delegation held a meeting with terrorist leader Öcalan in İmralı on December 28, after a 4.5-year hiatus.
