Three out of four people who were believed to have been poisoned by carbon monoxide in a house in Bağcılar, Istanbul, have died. Following the incident, an investigation was launched, and a neighbor of the family stated, "They haven't gone outside for two days. We investigated as well. The prosecutor came here, and they were poisoned inside." On the other hand, according to the initial assessment of the teams, the family experienced gas poisoning from a luxury lamp.
Teams entering the apartment on the top floor of the 5-story building in Bağcılar encountered the lifeless bodies of Abdülaziz Malay (71), his wife Fatime Jabara (44), and their daughter Zehra Malay (7), while they found their other daughter Gülbahar Malay (35) severely injured. Investigations suggested that all three individuals may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
TEAMS ENTERED THE APARTMENT FROM THE BALCONY
The incident occurred around 00:35 in Demirkapı Neighborhood, 1723rd Street. According to the information obtained, relatives who had not heard from the residents for a while reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, police, medical, and fire teams were dispatched to the house. When the door could not be opened, the fire teams entered the apartment from the balcony.
TEAMS ENCOUNTERED A STRONG ODOR
While it was thought that carbon monoxide poisoning had occurred, it was determined that there was food in the pot on the stove and a strong odor was present.
3 PEOPLE FOUND DEAD IN THE HOUSE
During the checks conducted by the teams, it was observed that Fatema Jabara was in the bedroom, Zehra Malay in the living room, and Gülbahar Malay and Abdulaziz Malay were lying motionless. Medical teams confirmed that Zehra Malay, Abdulaziz Malay, and Fatema Jabara had died, while Gülbahar Malay was severely injured. The bodies were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution for examination. Investigations are ongoing.
"THEY HAVEN'T GONE OUT FOR TWO DAYS"
A neighbor of the family said, "They haven't gone out for two days. We also investigated. The prosecutor came here, they have been poisoned inside. They used to come to the mosque every day with the community. Three people from the family have died. The mother, father, and daughter have died, and the other daughter is in intensive care. We don't know the exact details of the incident. That's why I can't say anything."
DID A LUXURY LAMP POISON THE FAMILY?
According to the news by Çağdaş Evren Şenlik; initial examinations at the scene suggested that the family may have died from gas poisoning. Teams are considering the possibility that the poisoning may have originated from a luxury lamp used in the house.
It was learned that the family used a luxury lamp for lighting due to frequent power outages in the neighborhood.
