The separation coincided with a period when the legal proceedings against Ayşe Barım, the founder of ID İletişim, were in the spotlight. Barım was detained on charges of monopolization in the television sector and was arrested on January 27. However, the main accusation is related to the Gezi Park protests in 2013.
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and accepted by the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court, it was claimed that Barım "guided artists during the Gezi process, influenced the public through the media, and contributed to the organization of the protests." Barım faces a prison sentence of 22 years and 6 months to 30 years on charges of "aiding an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey." It has been reported that Barım, who appeared before a judge for the first time on July 7, has experienced health issues in prison and has fainted several times. While the court decided to continue her detention, the trial was postponed to October 1.
