On the night he got married in Kayseri, the case of Specialist Sergeant Ümit Canpolat, who lost his life, has turned into a murder investigation due to the suspicions of his family. The grieving parents want the situation to be clarified. The grieving parents claim that their daughter-in-law committed the murder.
In the Talas district of Kayseri, Specialist Sergeant Ümit Canpolat, who got married on June 12 last year, suspiciously lost his life when he returned home after the wedding. After the incident was evaluated as a suicide, the case turned into a murder when Canpolat's parents, who appeared on a television program, stated that the death was not a suicide and was planned by their daughter-in-law. The grieving family of the specialist sergeant said they wanted the incident to be clarified and for the perpetrators to be punished.
"MY SON'S NAME WAS SMEARED BECAUSE THEY SAID HE SHOT HIMSELF" Ali Canpolat, the father, stated that his son and daughter-in-law had a consensual marriage and that they learned about it during the program they attended, saying, "After coming back from the wedding, my wife and I went home. After 5-10 minutes, the bride called me and said Ümit is dead. When we arrived, the apartment door was locked. I knocked on the door three times. Five minutes later, the door was opened for us. Just half a meter from the opened door, I saw my son lying on the ground with a gun in his hand. I asked the bride what she did to him. My child died from blood loss. This is what I saw. Thanks to a television program I attended in Istanbul, this incident turned into a murder. My son's name was smeared here because they said he shot himself. The case has now been turned into a murder case. It will be tried in the 2nd Heavy Penal Court. I want this incident to be resolved in the first court, I don't want a second trial. The fire burns where it falls. There was no problem between the bride and my son. The bride and my son had a consensual marriage by going to a lawyer here. We had not heard of this; we learned it on the television channel we attended," he said.
"MY SON'S KILLER IS MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW" Mother Döndü Canpolat claimed that her son was shot with another gun, saying, "My most beloved child was Ümit. He came to have his wedding after military service. He came, had his wedding, and danced joyfully. We left the hall, and everyone dispersed. The bride went directly to a taxi without saying goodbye to us. My son came, we hugged, and I said I would go with you. He said, 'Mom, maybe I'm thinking of going to the hotel.' I said, 'I will go with you, then I will go home from there.' He said, 'Take my dad home.' We went to the taxi, and he told the bride to say goodbye to my mom, but the bride still didn't get out. I said, 'Let her not say goodbye, just be happy, my son.' We hugged again, and I sent my son off in the car. I handed him over safely. You didn't give my son happiness; who are you talking to on the phone? How does the boy who danced joyfully in the wedding hall die within 5 minutes? How did you waste my son between 12:00 and 01:00? My son is dying, and the bride doesn't call me. She calls Doğan, Olcay, Ertuğrul, and among them is Şirin, along with Şirin's husband and Yasemin. They are the aunts and their husbands. They come to the house in cars; why don't the cameras show the cars they arrived in? Later, she calls the ambulance. She says, 'He shot himself in the head, hurry,' but at the same time, she is blocking the ambulance and texting someone from behind. My heart is burning. And that niece, she should be ashamed. How did you lay my son on that carpet, even though you are his niece? When I arrived, the blood had clotted. In the end, she called me, saying, 'Hurry, your son shot himself in the head, he committed suicide.' If you had gone out to the balcony and shouted, 'Hurry, this is what happened,' wouldn't a neighbor come? How did you deliberately leave my son to die? My son's killer is my daughter-in-law. I sent my son off from that wedding hall happy and smiling. It is also visible on the camera; he takes his flower, helps, takes it off, and has no phone in his hand. My daughter-in-law has a phone; who were you calling, with whom did you have a dialogue? Doesn't gunpowder residue show up on a soldier's hand and arm? Gunpowder residue doesn't go away for 3 days. Doesn't a swap residue show up? Doesn't a gun residue show up in your hand?
"THEY SHOT MY SON WITH ANOTHER GUN" The bullet that hit my son's head is not his bullet. As a mother, I am calling out to all of Turkey. They shot my son with another gun. They should reveal my son's bullet casing. Secondly, they should reveal the bloody lost shirt. Thirdly, whoever broke that phone, this black box should tell it. There is not even my son's fingerprint on his phone. Did birds come from the sky and kill my son? They should not trap this soldier and cover it up with a suicide stamp; they should not lay my son down with slander," she expressed.
The hearing of the case that turned into a murder will be held on April 22 at the Kayseri 2nd Heavy Penal Court.
