The facts that emerged from the investigation launched regarding the fire in the Yatağan district of Muğla, in which Nazire and Asım Kasap lost their lives, are chilling. Five people, including the couple's grandchild and spouse, were detained at Istanbul Airport while attempting to leave the country. It was determined that the suspects set the fire after stealing gold from the house and pouring gasoline.
In the Yatağan district of Muğla, the facts that emerged in the investigation regarding the fire that claimed the lives of Nazire Kasap (76) and her husband Asım Kasap (87) were chilling.
TRAPPED
The fire broke out on March 5 at around 01:00 in the detached house belonging to the Kasap couple in Turgut Mahallesi. Upon seeing the flames, their neighbors alerted the authorities, and fire, medical, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. While the teams intervened in the flames, they began efforts to rescue the Kasap couple who were trapped inside.
BOTH COULD NOT BE SAVED
After the flames were brought under control, the fire crews entered and encountered the body of Nazire Kasap. Her husband, Asım Kasap, who was found to be seriously injured, was taken by ambulance to Muğla Education and Research Hospital. Despite the interventions, Kasap lost his life. The couple was buried after an autopsy was performed.
THE COUPLE'S GRANDCHILD DETAINED AT THE AIRPORT
In the investigation initiated under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the gendarmerie teams began working to determine the cause of the fire. It was determined that the fire was set by the couple's grandchild Busenaz K. and her husband Kürşat K. The suspects, who were subject to a detention order, were apprehended by JASAT teams while attempting to leave the country from Istanbul Airport.
NUMBER OF DETENTIONS RISES TO 5
Following the couple's grandchild and spouse, Ümit K., his wife Selda K., and Emre G. were also detained in the investigation. It was determined that the suspects stole gold from the house and then set the fire by pouring gasoline.
