The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, commented on the investigation permission regarding Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, stating, "It is clear that they will not achieve any results from this. This is merely a move aimed at discrediting Mansur Yavaş. If you are linking Yavaş with corruption in the same sentence, it indicates bad faith."
The Ministry of Interior has granted permission for an investigation to be conducted against Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) President Mansur Yavaş and his Chief of Staff Nevzat Uzunoğlu regarding allegations of irregularities in ABB's concert expenses, on charges of "abuse of office" and "neglect of supervisory duties." The Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Özgür Özel, described the investigations against his party's municipalities as a "civil coup process" in a statement made in front of the Zonguldak Municipality.
Özgür Özel made statements in front of the Zonguldak Municipality. Özel said, "Today we visited our Zonguldak Municipality. It is one of our 21 provincial municipalities. We are in a process where we have been entrusted by the people to serve 65% of the country, having won 14 metropolitan municipalities and 21 provincial municipalities, and we are facing a resentment over this, and a process that started with someone who governs the country and fears losing the next elections targeting us," he said.
"THIS IS NOT A DIFFERENT PROCESS FROM THE COUP ATTEMPT ON THE FUTURE PRESIDENT"
Özel stated that after the actions taken against Ekrem İmamoğlu, there is an attempt to initiate a reputation assassination process against Mansur Yavaş as well, saying, "This is not a different process from the coup attempt on the future government, the future president, which is a civil coup process on March 19. We are dealing with someone who is afraid of the ballot box, who does not trust his own women's branches, youth branches, and main cadres, and who has established a branch called the presidency of judicial branches that does not exist in any party. And in this process, just as the aim of what was done to Ekrem İmamoğlu in Istanbul is, they now want to initiate the same reputation assassination against Mansur Yavaş," he said.
"NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO TARGET MANSUR YAVAŞ"
Speaking about the permission granted for an investigation against Mansur Yavaş and his chief of staff, Özel said:
"This is related to this file. Inspectors came, worked, wrote reports, and found nothing related to the mayor or his chief of staff. Now they want to start a new process by granting investigation permission once again from the same place. It is clear that they will not get any results from here. It is not result-oriented; it is merely a move to discuss Mansur Yavaş as well. Ekrem İmamoğlu was our presidential candidate. I went with Mansur Bey, and we voted for him in the primary elections. But they canceled Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma. They are asking for 2400 years of imprisonment according to them. We dealt with Ekrem İmamoğlu. Now, who is the name that the nation can choose as the President against us? One of the strongest candidates is Mansur Yavaş. Now they are trying to target him. The nation sees this. If you are putting Mansur Yavaş in the same sentence with corruption, it means there is bad faith here. We see this very clearly. Anyone who accuses CHP municipalities of corruption and irregularities is actually an accuser in front of the nation, and the nation knows that what they are really afraid of is the upcoming presidential elections.
"NOBODY ASKS GÖKÇEK"
Besides that, for example, when we see a relationship in Antalya or Bodrum that is really incompatible with politics, we cut ties with the party on that very day. However, we stand firmly behind our mayors against these political operations. Additionally, they have asked Mansur Bey questions regarding Ankapark. Melih Gökçek buried 1 billion dollars in Ankapark. He fed the money that would go down the throats of the people to dinosaurs. Nobody asks him questions. This will roam around like this. They are asking Mansur Yavaş about Ankapark, who stopped that plunder, presented it to the service of the people of Ankara, and saved billions. I mean, one should really be a little ashamed. I am not saying anything else. Most likely, the Council of State will suspend the execution of this process anyway."
"WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO HOST BAHÇELİ IN SILIVRI"
Özel expressed that they would be pleased with the MHP's visit to Silivri, saying:
"If the Nationalist Movement Party is going to İmralı, then it can also say that it can come to Silivri. We would be pleased to host Ekrem President, Bahçeli, and his three friends in Silivri. And I think it would be positive for Bahçeli to understand what a great injustice has been done to him, how he has been subjected to a legal coup, that his only crime is to serve, summarizing the contents of the 4000-page indictment, that these are all slanders, and that there is no concrete evidence, and to contribute to finding a solution to this great injustice."
