The debt issue in Istanbul ended in bloodshed. Allegedly, Seyit Göçüm, who repaid the 400,000 lira he borrowed two years ago with interest, amounting to approximately 4 million lira, had an argument with his former boxer friend Gürsoy K., who continued to demand money. After being struck, Göçüm was taken to the hospital, where he died, and it was learned that the suspect was Göçüm's witness at his wedding.
In Büyükçekmece, it is claimed that 47-year-old Seyit Göçüm repaid the 400,000 lira he borrowed from his former boxer friend Gürsoy K. two years ago, with interest, amounting to approximately 4 million lira over time. However, Gürsoy K., who continued to demand money, assaulted Göçüm, with whom he had a disagreement. Göçüm passed away in the hospital after being struck. Meanwhile, it was learned that Gürsoy K. was the witness at Göçüm's wedding.
400 THOUSAND IN DEBT FOR 4 MILLION The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in the Pınartepe neighborhood. According to allegations, former boxer Gürsoy K. lent 400,000 lira to his close friend Seyit Göçüm two years ago. Seyit Göçüm, who united his life with Mona Behmeni in April last year, made Gürsoy K. his wedding witness. Since the time he borrowed the money, Göçüm has paid Gürsoy approximately 4 million lira, including interest. However, Gürsoy continued to demand money. After a while, Seyit Göçüm fell ill and, on the advice of doctors, quit his job. Göçüm's wife, Mona Behmeni, took over her husband's business after leaving her beauty center to her employees.
HE COLLAPSED AFTER THE PUNCH AND PASSED AWAY On January 13, 2026, Gürsoy K. went to Göçüm's workplace, where Mona Behmeni was present, and asked for money again. Seyit Göçüm's wife Behmeni said to Gürsoy K., "We gave you 2 luxury cars, we made payments both in cash and through the bank multiple times. Why is this debt not ending? I can give you my beauty center to close this issue." In response, Gürsoy K. told Behmeni that her husband should come and settle this matter.
The next day, Gürsoy K. and Seyit Göçüm met at a café next to the workplace. After sitting for a while, the two got up. While walking on the street, Gürsoy punched Göçüm. Those who saw Göçüm collapse from the punch informed his wife Mona Behmeni, who was sitting in the workplace. When Behmeni went outside, Gürsoy K. attacked her as well. The couple called the police. While police teams were working at the scene, Seyit Göçüm fainted and passed away in the hospital. Those moments were captured by the cameras of nearby businesses.
"MY HUSBAND COLLAPSED NEXT TO THE POLICE" Mona Behmeni, recounting the events, said, "My husband went through an illness. The doctors said, 'He should stay away from stress.' For this reason, my husband quit his job and started staying at home to rest. I also left my beauty center and started taking care of my husband's business. On January 13, Gürsoy K. came to my husband's workplace. He asked me, 'Where is your husband?' I told him, 'You know my husband is sick and resting at home.' He then said that my husband still owed him money. I asked him what debt, and if this debt still wasn't settled, I offered to give him my beauty center. He said, 'Your husband should come tomorrow to settle this matter, or I will kill him first and then destroy your beauty center.' I told my husband what happened in the evening, but I didn't mention the part where Gürsoy K. threatened me. On January 14, my husband and Gürsoy sat at a café next to the workplace. After sitting for 5-6 minutes, they got up. While walking, Gürsoy punched my husband, knowing he was sick. When my husband collapsed, neighbors came and informed me. When I went outside, Gürsoy hit me too. Bystanders separated us. Then my husband told me to call the police and a lawyer. The police and lawyer arrived. My husband explained everything, and at that moment, he collapsed and fainted in front of the police. I lost my husband," she said.
"THEY ARE THREATENING ME SAYING THEY WILL DEPORT YOU" After the incident, Gürsoy K. was taken into custody by the police. Gürsoy K., who was sent to the courthouse, was arrested. However, Mona Behmeni stated that she was threatened by the suspect's family. Behmeni said, "The pain was not easy. I tried to gather myself a bit. But Gürsoy's family threatened me. 'You are a foreigner, we will deport you; drop your complaint,' they said. I can't leave the house, I can't go to work. I don't want money, I just want justice. They ruined our lives. I was married for 9 months. I will stand by my complaint until the end," she said.
