Jewelry belonging to Ezgi Ö., who lives in Sarıyer, Istanbul, was stolen from her home. Following her complaint, the Sarıyer Public Order Bureau teams launched an investigation and determined that the jewelry was stolen by her husband, Mert Ö. (31). Mert Ö. was caught while he was at the barber getting a haircut after going to a jeweler to exchange his wife's gold. It was revealed that Mert Ö. took and exchanged his wife's jewelry to pay off his gambling debts.
An incident that emerged with the disappearance of a woman's jewelry in Sarıyer was resolved as a result of police teams' examination of security cameras.
HE SOLD HIS WIFE'S GOLD
On Thursday, November 13, around 19:00, Ezgi Ö. noticed that her jewelry at home was missing and reported the situation to the police. In the camera examination conducted by the Sarıyer Public Order Bureau, it was determined that the jewelry was sold by Ezgi Ö.'s husband, Mert Ö., at a jewelry store located in Ferahevler Neighborhood on Wednesday, November 5.
HE BOUGHT AND SOLD THE GOLD FOR GAMBLING DEBT
Following this, the Sarıyer Public Order Bureau teams initiated an operation and caught Mert Ö. while he was getting a haircut at a men's barber in Yeniköy Neighborhood. Mert Ö., who was taken into custody, was brought to the police station. In his statement taken there, the suspect said that he took his wife's jewelry due to gambling debts. Mert Ö., who was subjected to legal action for 'theft from a house', was released from the police station by the decision of the prosecutor's office. The moments when the suspect sold the gold at the jewelry store were captured by security cameras.
