PAINFUL STATEMENT FROM CLOSE FRIEND
It was revealed that the legendary pilot and his family were on their way to meet internet phenomenon Garrett Mitchell, also known as Cleetus McFarland.
Mitchell, who frequently appeared in YouTube videos with Biffle, stated in a post on his social media account, "Unfortunately, I can confirm that Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, and son Ryder were on that plane... because they were on their way to spend the afternoon with us."
DAUGHTER'S CONDITION UNCERTAIN
Mitchell also mentioned in his post that it has not yet been confirmed whether Biffle's daughter Emma was on the plane. "We are very sorry. I am so sorry to have to share this," he said.
Biffle married Cristina Grossu in 2022. The couple has a 5-year-old son named Ryder, and Biffle has a 14-year-old daughter named Emma from a previous marriage.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED
Authorities reported that the 55-year-old Biffle's plane crashed while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport around 10:20 AM local time on Thursday, December 18.
The FAA and local officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene, and work continues in the wreckage area.

Greg Biffle began his NASCAR career in 1995. He was one of only three drivers to win championships in both the Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. He was named the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year in 2001 and became the champion in 2002. Biffle won 19 races between 2003 and 2016.
