Recently, some social media applications in Turkey have become virtual nests of crime. It has even been observed that negotiations for "hiring hitmen" are taking place through certain applications, with prices varying depending on the nature of the crime to be committed, which is another alarming detail. In private messaging groups, intense negotiations are being conducted with offers like "killing a person for 200-300 thousand lira."

Criminal organizations in Turkey are expanding their areas of activity every day. Different types of crimes such as theft, robbery, drug trafficking, and murder are now becoming subjects of negotiation over social media.

According to a report by Osman Terkan from NTV, intense negotiations are taking place in private messaging groups with offers like "setting a business on fire for 10,000 lira," "shooting a place for 40,000 lira," and "killing a person for 200-300,000 lira."

CHILDREN IN FOCUS

Criminal organizations particularly prefer children in these actions. Most of the young people used in attacks, often carried out on motorcycles, are not even part of the gang.

"CHILDREN RECRUITED FROM SOCIAL MEDIA ARE BEING USED TO COMMIT CRIMES"

Crime analyst Gökhan Turan summarizes this situation as follows: "Children recruited from social media are being used to commit crimes. They are shown a false life with plenty of money, luxury homes, and cars."

One important reason gangs choose children is the legal loophole. According to the Turkish Penal Code, offenders considered children receive much lighter sentences than adults. Turan states, "A crime that normally requires 4 years of imprisonment is reduced to 1 year for child offenders. Due to the execution law, most of this time is not even served."
