A journalist reporting on the disappearance of 13-year-old Raíssa in Brazil found the young girl's body in the river during a live broadcast. Those moments were captured on camera.
Television reporter Lenildo Frazão and the filming crew went to the Mearim River in the city of Bacabal on June 30 to report on Raíssa, who had gone missing after swimming with her friends the day before.
Reporter Frazão noticed movement in the water while speaking to the camera. He immediately took off his shoes, waded into the water up to his chest, and felt something hard at the bottom.
"I think there's something at the bottom of the water," Frazão said as he moved through the river, shortly after transitioning to the shallower part of the river to collect himself. After waiting for a while, he returned to the same spot, dipped his hand into the water, and said:
"I think it's an arm."
The journalist, in shock as he moved around in the river, expressed his fear by saying, "Oh my God... Where was the girl's body? It was right here just a moment ago."
Immediately after the incident, the military fire department was notified. Divers found Raíssa's body during their search in the river in the morning hours.
According to local sources, Raíssa panicked while swimming with her friends and called for help while struggling. When her friends couldn't save her, they ran to get help, but by that time, Raíssa had already disappeared.
