2. MEETING HAS STARTED

As part of the efforts to determine the new minimum wage, which directly concerns approximately 7 million workers and indirectly affects the general public, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission is holding its second meeting today.

VISIT TO TWO UNIONS

Before the meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan visited the Türk-İş and Hak-İş confederations as part of the minimum wage determination efforts. After the visits, Minister Işıkhan stated that he met with Türk-İş General President Ergün Atalay and Hak-İş General President Mahmut Arslan, and he listened to the demands and justifications of the union leaders.

IŞIKHAN: I RECEIVED THE PROPOSALS FROM THE UNIONS

Addressing the participation of the worker segment in the commission's work, Işıkhan emphasized the importance of managing the consultative process, saying, "The worker segment is not at the table, it may not be, but as the Minister of Labor and Social Security, I went to Türk-İş and established the Türk-İş table. We went to Hak-İş and established the Hak-İş table, and I received the demands and future proposals of the two presidents regarding the minimum wage." he said.

"I WILL COMMUNICATE THE DEMANDS TO THE COMMISSION MEMBERS"

Stating that he will convey the views he received from the labor unions at the commission meeting, Işıkhan said, "I will express these views we received from our labor unions to the other commission members as the Minister of Labor at the commission."

Minister Işıkhan reminded that there are many parameters such as inflation level, purchasing power, international calculations, and social policy needs in determining the minimum wage, emphasizing that they will address and evaluate all citizens' expectations in the commission.

"WE WILL REACH A CONSENSUS AT A POINT"

Stating that the fundamental principles will be preserved in determining the minimum wage that will be valid in the new year, Işıkhan noted:

God willing, as we do every period, we will pay attention to the principle of not letting the minimum wage level be eroded by inflation for the wage that will be valid in 2026, and we will ensure that it is of a nature that will protect and improve the welfare and purchasing power of our workers. I hope that under the leadership of our esteemed President, we will reach a consensus at a certain point by moving together with both our workers and employers in the Century of Turkey.
