A person who makes a living by shepherding in Hatay slapped a monkey that he had been raising for 6 months, which was brought into the country illegally. Following the scandalous footage, the teams from the Provincial Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks took the monkey under protection. It was also learned that legal action would be taken against the individual.

A person who makes a living by shepherding in the Avuttepe neighborhood of Hatay's Altınözü district began to feed a monkey that he claims to have found near the Turkey-Syria border. Footage of the moments when the person slapped the monkey, which he has been feeding for about 6 months, was shared on social media by his family. The images quickly spread and caused public outrage.

Following the footage, teams from the Nature Conservation and National Parks Provincial Directorate took action, seizing the monkey from the individual and placing it under protection. It was learned that legal action would be taken against the person who fed the monkey, which is prohibited to be kept in the country, while the monkey has started to be hosted at the rehabilitation center of the Nature Conservation and National Parks Provincial Directorate.
