The suspect M.E.F., who set his vehicle on fire in front of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) yesterday, was arrested as part of an investigation launched for the crime of 'Deliberately Endangering Public Safety.' It was determined that the individual, who has a record of 16 different offenses, set the vehicle on fire because he was expecting a tax reduction and was disappointed that the reduction did not occur.

In Ankara, M.E.F., who is reported to have psychological disorders, set his car on fire in front of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The individual, who is said to have numerous criminal records, was arrested.

The incident occurred yesterday around 09:00 in the Çankaya district on İsmet İnönü Boulevard. M.E.F., who came from Mersin, set his car with the license plate 33 FC 312 on fire in front of the TBMM. Upon notification, fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The car, which was extinguished by the fire department's intervention, was rendered unusable. The individual was taken into custody.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a social media post regarding the incident, "In the examination conducted, it was determined that the individual resides in Mersin, works in scrap dealing, has 12 scrap vehicles registered in his name, and that he was expecting a SCT discount with the scrap vehicle incentive, and set his car on fire because the discount did not come out. It has been established that the individual has records of 16 different crimes, including theft, motor vehicle theft, forgery of official documents, establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime, threats, and endangering public safety intentionally. It has also been determined that the individual, who is reported to have received psychiatric treatment, set a car on fire in front of the Mersin Courthouse on May 11, 2018, stating 'I spent 10 years in prison.' A comprehensive investigation into the matter is ongoing," it was stated.

The suspect M.E.F. was arrested as part of the investigation initiated for the crime of 'Endangering Public Safety Intentionally.'
