The preliminary autopsy report for the mother and two children of the Böcek family, who lost their lives after eating mussels and kumpir during their vacation in Istanbul, has been completed. The report indicated that all three individuals had bleeding in their stomachs, but no other significant pathological findings were noted.

Servet and Çiğdem Böcek, who came to Istanbul for a holiday from Germany, along with their children, 6-year-old Kadir and 3-year-old Masal, fell ill at the hotel where they were staying in Fatih during the night. The family members, who became unwell, were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances due to complaints of nausea and vomiting.

THEY ENDED UP WITH THE MUSSELS AND KUMPIR THEY ATE

Mother Çiğdem Böcek and the children Kadir and Masal could not be saved despite all the interventions at the hospital and lost their lives. Father Servet Böcek was intubated. Subsequently, the mother and children were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution in Yenibosna for autopsy. The bodies, which were received by their families, will be buried in Bolvadin district of Afyon after the noon prayer tomorrow.

PRELIMINARY AUTOPSY REPORTS COMPLETED

After the examination at the Forensic Medicine Institution, the preliminary autopsy report of the bodies was completed. The report stated that there were no external traumatic lesions observed in the external examinations of Kadir Muhammet Böcek and Masal Böcek that could cause death, and that no significant pathological findings were detected except for hyperemia (the condition of blood vessels dilating and bringing more blood to the area) in the gastric mucosa.

"THERE ARE NO SIGNIFICANT PATHOLOGICAL FINDINGS EXCEPT FOR GASTRIC BLEEDING"

Regarding mother Çiğdem Böcek, it was also noted that no external traumatic lesions were observed in the external examination, and that widespread submucosal hemorrhages in the stomach, areas of localized ulceration, and no significant pathological findings were observed except for the normal chyme and fecal content in the intestines. It was learned that some samples were taken from the bodies for laboratory analysis during the procedures. The contents of the stomach and intestines were sampled to be sent to the laboratories of the General Directorate of Public Health under cold chain conditions. It was stated that the causes of death would be determined after the analysis of the samples.
