Egg prices have decreased by 50% due to a decline in exports and an excess supply in the domestic market. However, despite this significant price drop, the fact that supermarkets have not reduced their prices by the same rate has sparked discussions.
For a long time, rising egg prices have been straining consumers' budgets. However, with recent developments, there has been a significant drop in prices. In fact, prices have decreased by 50% due to a decline in exports and an excess supply in the domestic market.
DECREASE IN EXPORTS HAS LOWERED PRICES
According to a report by Karar Newspaper, the decrease in egg exports, especially to the USA and Iraq, has led to an excess supply in the domestic market. This situation has contributed to the drop in prices. A few months ago, the price of a carton of 30 eggs was around 190-200 lira, but it has now fallen to the range of 125-130 lira.
PRICE DROP MAY CONTINUE WITH WARMER WEATHER
Egg sellers indicate that prices may drop further as the weather warms up. Currently, a single egg is sold for an average of 4 to 4.5 lira. The decrease in prices to reasonable levels has increased consumer demand, leading to activity in the market.
MARKETS HAVE TURNED A BLIND EYE
Despite the decrease in production costs of eggs, no change has been observed in market prices. This situation has led to various discussions between producers and consumers. Producers attribute the reason for prices remaining stable despite the drop in costs to markets taking advantage of this opportunity to increase their profit margins. Consumers criticize the fact that prices have not decreased despite the drop in production costs.
