Heavy rainfall that has been affecting Antalya and its surroundings for days continues to negatively impact transportation. The new Antalya-Konya highway has been closed to traffic due to intense rain and floodwaters blocking the road.
THE ROAD HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR DAYS
Drivers coming from the Taşağıl direction of Antalya and wishing to use this route are being stopped by highway teams at the intersection of Başlar Neighborhood in İbradı district.
THERE IS NEARLY 2 METERS OF WATER
After the heavy rains, the section between Başlar Neighborhood of İbradı and Derebucak district has been submerged under floodwaters. Although the rain has stopped, it has been reported that the water level has reached heights of 1 to 2 meters in some areas. Highway teams are continuing their efforts to drain the water and ensure road safety in the region.
IT IS UNKNOWN WHEN THE ROAD WILL BE OPENED
Authorities state that even if the rain does not start again in the area, it will take time for the water on the road to recede. Therefore, it is indicated that the Antalya-Konya highway may remain closed to traffic for about another week.
