The RTÜK, which issues severe penalties for numerous news channels, has also given Flu TV, owned by İlker Canikligil, and the YouTube accounts of Fatih Altalı a 72-hour deadline to obtain broadcasting licenses.
As part of the investigations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, television channels that broadcasted the protests that began with the detention and arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu were penalized by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK).
HEAVY PENALTIES FOR 4 CHANNELS
A 10-day broadcasting suspension was imposed on SZC TV, while Halk TV and Tele 1 received a 5% monetary fine and 5 program suspensions. Additionally, due to exceeding the limits of criticism in broadcasts, NOW TV was fined 2%, and SZC TV, Halk TV, and Tele1 were each fined 3%.
72 HOURS FOR FATİH ALTAYLI AND FLU TV
A decision was also made regarding those broadcasting via YouTube from the Supreme Council meeting. It was stated that Fatih Altaylı and İlker Canikligil's Flu TV YouTube channels must obtain a license within 72 hours, and if not obtained, access to their channels would be requested to be blocked.
ALTAYLI'S STATEMENT
Journalist Fatih Altaylı, in a statement on his social media account regarding the decision, said, "As of now, I have not been informed of anything. When an official notification is made, as a journalist from a period that respects the laws, we will, of course, fulfill our legal obligations."
