RIZA AKPOLAT'S SISTER-IN-LAW ALSO DETAINED
According to information shared by journalist Dilek Yaman Demir, Çiğdem Yankılıç Kangal, the sister of Rıza Akpolat's wife, who was arrested and suspended from duty as part of the operations, has also been detained in connection with the investigation into the criminal organization led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş. It is claimed that Kangal was detained based on the information provided by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who became a cooperating witness by benefiting from the provisions of effective remorse.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat was arrested on January 17, 2025, on charges of "being a member of a criminal organization," "manipulating a tender," and "unlawful acquisition of property." Along with Akpolat, Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who is alleged to be the "organization leader," was also arrested. A total of 31 suspects, including Akpolat and Aktaş, were referred to the duty magistrate on charges of "establishing and managing a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "bribery," "manipulating a tender," "interfering with the performance of a duty," and "laundering the proceeds of crime." While Akpolat's detention continues, Aziz İhsan Aktaş was released by benefiting from effective remorse.
