Brent Clifford, the son of famous rock musician Doug Clifford, has been arrested in connection with the murder of his former girlfriend Patricia Portella-Wright. He is also being linked to the death of William Andrews. Brent, who is being held at Placer County Jail, does not have the option of being released on bail. If found guilty, he could face a sentence ranging from 25 years to life in prison. His father, Doug Clifford, is a renowned drummer and one of the founders of Creedence Clearwater Revival, listed in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Rock legend Doug Clifford's son Brent Clifford (55) has been arrested on suspicion of killing his ex-girlfriend and has also been named as a suspect in another murder.
Brent was arrested on Wednesday on charges of identity theft. On Thursday, he was arrested again on charges of murder after the body of his ex-girlfriend Patricia Portella-Wright (48) was found. Portella-Wright had been missing since August 4th.
Police have not disclosed the motive for the murder but stated that it was "clearly a malicious act."
Brent was also wanted in connection with another murder that occurred in Nevada a few days later. The body of a man named William Andrews (68) was found shot to death. Andrews' body was discovered approximately 42 kilometers away from Portella-Wright's body.
Investigators believe that Brent visited Andrews and stole his car.
The suspect is currently being held in Placer County Jail and is not eligible for bail. If found guilty of Portella-Wright's murder, he could face a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
Brent's father Doug Clifford is the founding drummer of Creedence Clearwater Revival and a famous musician on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Doug has not yet made a public statement about his son's arrest or the murder charges.
