Comedian Yavuz Kırma, who performs under the pseudonym 'Yavuz Günal', has had an indictment prepared against him, seeking a prison sentence of 6 months to 1 year for allegedly publicly insulting religious values during his show. The prepared indictment has been sent to the Anadolu Criminal Court of First Instance for evaluation.
An investigation has been launched against comedian Yavuz Kırma, who performs under the pseudonym "Yavuz Günal," due to his remarks about religious events and prophets, by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The prepared indictment states that the investigation was initiated following a tip-off to the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which was later transferred to the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office after a decision of lack of jurisdiction.
'PRISON SENTENCE REQUEST OF 6 MONTHS TO 1 YEAR'
The indictment notes that the suspect worked as a comedian under the pseudonym "Yavuz Günal" and made a speech related to religious events concerning the film "The Message" during one of his performances.
It was recorded that the suspect shared the video of the aforementioned speech on his social media account, where he made statements under the guise of humor regarding a film that narrates the birth of Islam, using mocking and derogatory expressions about the event of the cave during the Hijra, which is considered sacred in Islam and by its prophet.
The indictment also noted that he made mocking and derogatory remarks about the sacrificial and staff events related to Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Musa. The suspect is requested to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 6 months to 1 year for the crime of 'publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a segment of the society.' The indictment has been sent to the Anadolu Criminal Court of First Instance for evaluation.
