It is claimed that the government, aiming to address the injustice in retirement pensions, is working on a new retirement model that includes salary calculation methods and the raise system, with regulations on the table to eliminate the minimum pension application.
While new regulations aimed at addressing income inequality in retirement pensions are coming to the agenda, it is claimed that the government is working on a fundamental change in the retirement system.
PREPARATION FOR A NEW ERA IN THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM
The method of calculating retirement pensions and the differences between pensions have become a topic of discussion again. With the new regulations the government is working on, the aim is to reduce the gap between pensions and eliminate the need for the lowest pension application.
INCREASES SPARKED DEBATE
After the announcement of the inflation data for December 2025, the rates of the pension increases made in January became clear. Accordingly, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees received an increase of 12.19%, while civil servants and civil servant retirees received an increase of 18.60%. With the increases, the lowest pension was raised to 20,000 TL. However, the difference in the increase rates has brought the criticisms of the retirement system back to the agenda.
CLAIM OF A NEW SYSTEM IN ANKARA LOBBIES
According to what is being discussed in the lobbies, the government has taken action for a comprehensive change in retirement pensions. The aim is to create a fairer and more balanced salary system that will render the lowest pension application unnecessary. In this context, it is planned to re-evaluate the methods of calculating pensions.
COMPREHENSIVE WORK IS UNDERWAY
According to the information obtained, the Presidency, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the AKP administration are conducting a joint study related to the retirement system. Addressing income inequality in retirement pensions is among the main objectives of this work.
SPECIAL COMMISSION IN THE MINISTRY
The special commission established within the Ministry of Labor and Social Security is expected to examine in detail the salary calculation coefficients, the number and amounts of premium payment days, the lowest pension application, and the differences between pensions.
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PREMIUMS AND SALARIES WILL BE STRENGTHENED
It is emphasized in the evaluations that the salary difference between those who retire with low premiums and those who have paid high premiums for many years has become a serious problem. In the new model, it is planned to increase the impact of the premium payment period and amount on the salary.
COMMON INCREASE FORMULA ON THE TABLE
The application of different increase rates for SSK, Bağ-Kur, and Pension Fund retirees is also among the criticized topics. According to the news in Ekonomim, the option of a common increase application covering all retirees has also been considered.
THE GOAL IS A MORE PERMANENT STRUCTURE
With the planned regulations, it is aimed to create a more balanced and permanent salary structure among retirees, thus reducing the need for the lowest pension application. It is expected that the studies related to the new retirement model will become clearer in the upcoming process.
