Sports commentator Erman Toroğlu has been subjected to an ex officio investigation on the charge of 'Publicly Disseminating Misleading Information' due to his statements on a television program. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that Toroğlu was referred to the on-duty Magistrate's Court with a request for judicial control after completing his statement procedures. In a statement made upon his exit, Toroğlu said, "Ask your questions to the President of Galatasaray and the President of the TFF."
Sports commentator and former football referee Erman Toroğlu was subjected to an ex officio investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to statements he made during a television program he participated in on February 8, 2026.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that Erman Toroğlu was included in the investigation on the grounds of "Publicly Disseminating Misleading Information" under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code. The statement reported that Toroğlu, in his testimony as a suspect, stated that he did not have direct knowledge of the claims he made during the program, that he obtained information based on hearsay, and that he did not know the accuracy of this information.

In the prosecutor's statement, it was recorded that after completing his testimony, Erman Toroğlu was referred to the on-duty Magistrate's Court with a request for judicial control.

In the television program he participated in, Erman Toroğlu stated, "Dursun Özbek told the federation president in a secret meeting, 'we must become champions this year, the situation is very bad, help us, support us'."
RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
After the proceedings at the court, Erman Toroğlu was released under judicial control. In a statement he made upon his exit, Toroğlu said, "Ask the questions you want to me to the President of Galatasaray and the President of TFF."
