TRIAL OF 30 INDIVIDUALS HAS BEGUN
As part of the investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), 30 defendants, who are accused of participating in unauthorized protest marches following the detention of IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, faced charges of 'violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations,' with prison sentences ranging from 6 months to 3 years. They appeared before the Istanbul 74th Criminal Court of First Instance.
The hearing was held in the courtroom of the Istanbul 27th Heavy Penal Court due to insufficient capacity of the original courtroom.
HEARING POSTPONED TO SEPTEMBER 15
The court decided to postpone the hearing to September 15, ruling that a letter should be sent to the relevant police departments to inquire about where and how the defendants participated in the alleged criminal acts, and to address any missing issues.
