According to a video shared on the social media platform of U.S.-based Company X by the Department of Defense (Pentagon), it was reported that the U.S. military reached the oil tanker named "Bertha," which it had been tracking in the Caribbean, in the Indian Ocean.
The statement said, "U.S. forces conducted a visit right, maritime interdiction, and boarding operation against Bertha without any incident throughout the night in the area of responsibility of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM)."
"VIOLATED QUARANTINE RULES"
It was noted that the seized tanker violated the quarantine rules set by U.S. President Donald Trump for vessels subject to sanctions in the Caribbean and attempted to flee.
On the website of the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), it is stated that the oil tanker named "Bertha" is registered under the Cook Islands and is subject to Iranian sanctions.
