In a post from the U.S. Southern Command's (SOUTHCOM) virtual media account, it was reported that an attack was carried out on a boat alleged to be involved in drug trafficking in the Caribbean under the orders of SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan.

The statement indicated that intelligence confirmed the boat was sailing along known drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean and was engaged in drug trafficking activities, stating that 3 people were killed and that U.S. military forces were unharmed.
