The number of individuals listed in Forbes' Billionaires List has reached 3,428 this year, while the total wealth of billionaires has risen to $20.1 trillion.
RECORD INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF BILLIONAIRES
This year's Billionaires List, published for the 40th time by Forbes, revealed that a record number of individuals entered the Billionaires List this year thanks to the artificial intelligence boom, dynamic markets, and favorable financial policies.
Accordingly, the number of billionaires worldwide has reached a record high of 3,428, an increase of 400 individuals compared to last year. Throughout the past year, the wealthy continued to accumulate wealth at an astonishing pace, with fortunes increasing at an unprecedented rate.
TOTAL WEALTH REACHED $20.1 TRILLION
The total wealth of billionaires has increased by $4 trillion compared to last year, reaching a record level of $20.1 trillion. It was noted that 20 individuals worldwide possess 12-digit fortunes, meaning $100 billion or more.
ELON MUSK AT THE TOP
Elon Musk, the American businessman and owner of companies like Tesla, SpaceX, X, and xAI, has topped the Billionaires List for the second consecutive year. With an estimated wealth of $839 billion, Musk has become the richest person on record.
Thanks to the increase in Tesla's value and SpaceX's goal of going public in 2026, Musk's net worth has increased by half a trillion dollars compared to last year, making him the first person to reach the $800 billion milestone while progressing towards becoming the world's first trillionaire. Larry Page, co-founder of Google, ranks second on the list with an estimated net worth of $257 billion, followed by his partner Sergey Brin with a fortune of $237 billion.
Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, ranks fourth on the list with a fortune of $224 billion, while Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is fifth with a net worth of $222 billion.
TRUMP'S WEALTH REACHED $6.5 BILLION
The wealth of U.S. President Donald Trump increased by 27% due to the cancellation of his penalty in a lawsuit alleging he engaged in cryptocurrency transactions and fraud. Trump's wealth has risen to an estimated $6.5 billion, placing him at 645th on the list.
Additionally, this year, famous names from hip-hop legends like Dr. Dre to singer Beyonce Knowles-Carter and tennis legend Roger Federer also made the list. There are 35 billionaires under the age of 30 on the list, with the world's youngest billionaire being 20-year-old Amelie Voigt Trejes, the heir of Brazilian industrial machinery giant WEG.
The oldest billionaire on the list is George Joseph, the founder of the U.S.-based insurance company Mercury General, who is 104 years old. Although male dominance continues among billionaires, this year, 481 women managed to enter the Billionaires List, making up 14% of the list.
THE U.S. HAS THE MOST BILLIONAIRES
The U.S. has become the country with the most billionaires, with 989 individuals, including 15 names in the top 20. The total wealth of billionaires in the U.S. is estimated to be $8.4 trillion. Following the U.S. are China, including Hong Kong with 610 billionaires, and India with 229 billionaires.
40 NAMES FROM TURKEY ON THE LIST
This year, 40 names from Turkey appeared on Forbes' Billionaires List. Hamdi Ulukaya, the founder and CEO of Chobani, one of the most popular yogurt brands in the U.S., ranks 219th on the list with a fortune of $13.5 billion, making him the richest person in Turkey.
Following Ulukaya are Murat Ülker, a board member of Yıldız Holding with a fortune of $5.3 billion, Cemil Kazancı, chairman of Kazancı Holding with a fortune of $4.9 billion, Erman Ilıcak, honorary chairman of Rönesans Holding with a fortune of $3.8 billion, and Ferit Şahenk, chairman of Doğuş Holding with a fortune of $3.2 billion.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Uğur Şahin, CEO and co-founder of the Germany-based biotechnology company BioNTech, and Eren Özmen and Fatih Özmen, owners of the U.S.-based aerospace company Sierra Nevada Corporation, are among the Turkish names on the Billionaires List.
