The e-commerce platform, which started operations in 2021 in collaboration with Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd and offered non-food products, will be terminated due to not meeting expectations. The company aims to focus more on its core business with this step.
COMPETITION HAS BECOME QUITE CHALLENGING
Aldi was selling a wide range of products in its online store, from small household appliances to electronics. However, the increasing competition with strong rivals like Amazon and Temu, along with a loss of 4.8 million euros from this project in 2023, made the decision to close inevitable.

In a statement from the company, it was said, "As the inventor of discount retailing, we have consciously and willingly decided to focus on our core business." This decision will allow Aldi to invest more in its physical stores, which are the foundation of its business model.
DELIVERY SERVICE WILL CONTINUE OPERATIONS
The closure decision will directly affect approximately 80 employees working under Aldi E-Commerce GmbH. According to a report by Plus49, Aldi's online shopping platform was the only project jointly conducted between the two groups. However, the food delivery service called "Mein Aldi," which Aldi Süd has been testing in certain regions, will continue its operations.
