In the Phrygian Valley, which has a history of approximately 3,000 years in Afyonkarahisar, a three-story structure carved into the rock, considered one of the first apartments in history, features a Turkish-style toilet that is regarded as one of the earliest toilets in history.
In Afyonkarahisar, the artifacts located in the Phrygian Valley, which continues to be a focal point of interest in every season, are coming to the agenda with their intriguing features.
THE FIRST 'ALATURKA' TOILET IN THE FIRST APARTMENT OF HISTORY
The toilet on the 3rd floor of the structure known as the first apartment in history, located in the Ayazini part of the valley, astonishes those who see it.
The toilet, carved in an alaturka style inside the structure, is described as 'the first alaturka toilet in history' on the information plaque hung by the Afyonkarahisar Governorship Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate.
"6 CIVILIZATIONS HAVE LIVED"
Speaking about the interesting artifact, Ayazini Village Muhtar Bekir Yılmaz noted that visitors to the valley and the artifact constantly ask them questions about the toilet, stating, "We receive many questions about it. According to what we learned, 6 civilizations have lived here, such as the Romans, Byzantines, and Hittites. The place referred to as the world's first toilet is on the 3rd floor of the apartment. When you look at it, it really reminds you of a toilet," he said.
