The actor, programmer, presenter, and director Hüseyin Goncagül, known for his theater work aimed at children, has passed away. Goncagül's funeral will be held at the Marmara Theology Mosque.

The theater actor and presenter Burak Sezen announced the death of theater artist Hüseyin Goncagül in a post on his personal X account.



HE HAS PASSED AWAY



In his post, Sezen stated, "Inna lillahi ve innaa ileyhi raciün. We believed and had faith. My dear teacher, who has never let go of my hand for 30 years, whom I ran to in every difficult moment… I lost my precious teacher Hüseyin Goncagül, whom I knew for his good morals, generosity, and loyalty to his cause."



Mahmut Bıyıklı, the President of the Istanbul Branch of the Turkish Writers' Union, also expressed his sorrow on his personal X account, saying, "Our precious brother Hüseyin Goncagül has departed for the beyond. May his destination be blessed, his place in heaven, his rank exalted, and may his soul be joyful until the Day of Judgment, Inshallah."



FUNERAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED



Goncagül's funeral will be held today after the Friday prayer at the Marmara Theology Mosque, followed by his burial.



WHO IS HÜSEYİN GONCAGÜL?



Theater artist Hüseyin Goncagül was born on February 9, 1955, in Üsküdar, Istanbul. He met theater during his school years and won the State Theaters acting exam in 1970, taking on various roles in children's plays for about 3 years.



The master theater artist, who graduated from Istanbul Imam Hatip School, completed his English Teaching degree at Marmara University Faculty of Education and worked as an English teacher for 13 years.



Goncagül, who conducted theater activities for students through clubs he established in schools, also met the audience in various stage events.



In 1984, Goncagül shared the stage with many names, including Ulvi Alacakaptan, Barbaros Ceylan, Hasan Nail Canat, and Altay Ünaltay, in the play "People and Fools" written by İbrahim Sadri, and wrote articles titled "Traveling with Goncagül" in Milli Gazete.



In the 1990s, Goncagül prepared and presented children's programs on Akra and Moral FM radios, as well as television programs such as "Public Assembly," "Istanbul Bulletin," "Istanbul Wins, I Scoop," "Waiting for Suhoor," "Goncagül's Scoop," "Holiday Entertainment," "Families Compete," and "Recess" on Kanal 7.



The master theater artist, who also released a music album and video in 1999 in memory of the 700th anniversary of the Ottoman Empire, gained the appreciation of all segments of society with his theater work aimed at children.



In addition to his role as a presenter on TRT Çocuk, Goncagül also served as a consultant and has contributed to various programs in many countries, including Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Austria.
