Dilan Polat and her sister Sıla Doğu, who faced a request for up to 1 year in prison due to their actions while dancing at an entertainment venue in Beşiktaş, were acquitted in the trial they were involved in.
On October 17, 2024, while dancing and kissing at an entertainment venue in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, Dilan Polat and her sister Sinem Sıla Doğu were the subject of an investigation that has now been completed. The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested that Dilan Polat and Sinem Sıla Doğu be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 6 months to 1 year for the crime of 'indecent acts.'
"WE HAVE A SISTER-SISTER RELATIONSHIP"
The case, which was seen by the Istanbul 16th Criminal Court of First Instance through a simple trial procedure, has been concluded. In her defense, Polat stated that she went to the entertainment venue to celebrate the birthday of a close friend, saying, "My sister Sinem Sıla has acted as a mother and father to me. We were constantly together during our time in prison. When I was about to kiss her on the cheek, this situation occurred suddenly as she turned. Nothing other than a sister-sister relationship can be thought of between us. Our friends at the entertainment venue recorded a video. They probably published it on social media without realizing this situation. As a result, it became news. When I woke up in the morning and realized this situation, I apologized to everyone in general. My sister is like my mother. They have made news by slowing down the shared video, which could be interpreted in different ways," she said.
SILA SAID "REFLEX"
Defendant Doğu stated in her testimony that they kissed for 2 seconds as a reflex, and that this was a pure kiss due to their sibling relationship and the joy of overcoming difficult times, and she expressed that she was very ashamed to be here for such a crime.
THEY WERE ACQUITTED
The court that concluded the case decided to acquit the defendants Dilan Polat and Sinem Sıla Doğu on the grounds that the crime of 'indecent acts' attributed to them did not constitute all legal elements. - ISTANBUL
