The Thai government has approved a bill legalizing casinos to revitalize tourism and the economy.
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra made statements to reporters after a meeting with the cabinet.
"IT WILL BENEFIT THE ENTIRE SOCIETY"
Shinawatra stated that a bill legalizing casinos has been approved by the cabinet, saying that the decision "will benefit the entire society in the long run."
If the bill becomes law, casinos will be allowed to operate within complexes that include different businesses such as hotels, convention centers, shopping malls, or theme parks.
Casinos, which are planned to charge an entrance fee for Thai citizens, will be free for foreigners. Additionally, those under 20 years old will not be allowed to enter the casinos. In Thailand, where betting on boxing and horse racing is legal, casinos have been operating illegally.
