The last day rush for driver's license renewals has overwhelmed the Population Registration Offices. Thousands of drivers who left their transactions until today faced long queues, exhausted ticket numbers, and the necessity to travel outside the city. Citizens flocking to the offices to take advantage of the discounted renewal opportunity had to wait for hours.
The last-minute rush for driver's license renewals has paralyzed the Population Directorates. With the deadline for renewing old-style driver's licenses approaching, citizens formed long queues in front of the directorates from the early hours of the morning. Despite warnings made days in advance, millions of drivers who left their transactions to the last day had to wait for hours in line due to the congestion.
CROWDS FORMED AT BUS TERMINALS
In some provinces and districts, queue numbers ran out within minutes, while citizens who arrived without appointments were turned away at the doors. Many who could not get an appointment preferred to go to directorates in different cities. The increasing congestion at bus terminals drew attention, while drivers heading out for intercity appointments faced additional financial and time burdens.
TRANSACTIONS WILL BE MADE AFTER WORKING HOURS DUE TO CONGESTION
The personnel of the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs are working at full capacity to ensure that application processes are not disrupted. However, the number of staff is struggling to keep up with the increasing demand for applications. In some directorates, it has been announced that transactions will also be carried out after working hours.
RENEWAL FEES WILL INCREASE STARTING TOMORROW
The end of the discounted driver's license renewal opportunity today has further increased the number of applications. Class B driver's licenses, which can be renewed for 15 TL, will cost 7,438 TL starting tomorrow. Additionally, old-style licenses will be considered invalid.
Citizens who paid the price for leaving it to the last day in both time and stress express their regrets while waiting for hours in line and chasing documents. Authorities once again reminded that transactions should be carried out on time to avoid similar congestion.
