The General Chairman of TİP, Erkan Baş, stated that a large number of people from his party were detained in the morning hours in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Çanakkale, and Antalya. Baş said, "Our lawyers are closely monitoring the situation."
Protests that started across the country following the detention of many individuals, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, as part of the investigations into "Corruption" and "Terrorism" targeting İBB, continue. Erkan Baş, the Chairman of the Turkey Workers' Party (TİP), announced that many members of his party were detained in the early hours in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Çanakkale, and Antalya.
"THESE ATTEMPTS CANNOT MAKE US TAKE A SINGLE STEP BACK"
In a statement from his official social media account, Baş said, "In Antalya, our MYK member Yunus Başaran, our Provincial Chairman Enes Keskin, and our friends, including members of the Provincial Board, were detained in home raids. In Izmir, our PM member Orhan Kiper and our student comrades are in custody. We know that home raids are also being conducted in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, and our lawyers are closely monitoring the situation. These attempts to break the will of the people cannot make us take a single step back, but let it be known that what is being done is also oppression. We will continue to resist and speak out for what we believe is right," he said.
TİP MYK member Yunus Başaran also shared on his social media account, "We are being detained. We will not surrender to darkness," he stated.
