The deadline for renewing old-style driver's licenses expires today. As the deadline approaches, there has been a surge in activity at the population registration offices. Those who renew their licenses today will only pay 15 TL, but after noon, this amount will rise to 7,438.60 TL. The licenses of 1,843,722 people using old-style licenses will be considered invalid starting tomorrow if they do not renew them.
The deadline for replacing old-style driver's licenses with new-style licenses across Turkey ends today. Citizens wishing to renew their licenses flocked to population directorates just hours before the deadline. In the last week, 115,135 people applied, and the number of those who have obtained a new-style driver's license has exceeded 36 million.
THE FEE IS 15 LIRA TODAY, 7,438 LIRA FROM TOMORROW
Those renewing their licenses today will only pay 15 lira. However, starting tomorrow, old-style driver's licenses will be considered invalid, and renewal fees will increase.
Class B license holders will pay 7,438 lira and 60 kuruş,
Class A, A1, A2, and F license holders will pay 3,643 lira and 10 kuruş,
Class B1, BE, C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D, DE, G, and M license holders will pay 11,235 lira and 60 kuruş.
Despite all warnings, 1,843,722 people are still using old-style licenses. The documents of these individuals will be invalid starting tomorrow.
RECORD APPLICATIONS IN RECENT WEEKS
There has been a significant increase in driver's license renewal applications in recent months.
In August: 96,134 applications
In September: 57,858 applications
In October: 214,725 applications
In the last 10 business days, 129,536 people renewed their licenses. Authorities reminded citizens to make their appointments through e-Government or Alo 199 to avoid any inconvenience.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR LICENSE RENEWAL
Those wishing to renew their driver's licenses can make an appointment through the Alo 199 Call Center, mobile application, or nvi.gov.tr.
- Required documents for application:
- Old driver's license
- Driver's health report (to be obtained from authorized health institutions)
- Biometric photo taken within the last 6 months
- 15 TL application fee
- Registered address in MERNIS
New driver's licenses are delivered to addresses via PTT. During this process, it is possible to drive with a temporary driver's license.
