HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS STARTED STRUGGLING IN THE SEA
The incident occurred around 14:30 at the beach of the Yıldırım Beyazıd Camp, which is affiliated with the Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate in Susanoğlu Neighborhood. Cemal Emre Kurt, Mehmet Erdem Akdeniz, and Alperen Bayraktar, students of Ankara Sincan Erkunt Vocational Training School, entered the sea. Due to the windy weather and choppy sea, all three students began to struggle in the water.
2 LOST THEIR LIVES
Bayraktar was pulled out of the water by bystanders and taken to a nearby private hospital. The other two students, Akdeniz and Kurt, who were swept out to sea, were rescued by the Coast Guard Command teams and taken to Silifke State Hospital by ambulances. Despite all the doctors' interventions, Akdeniz and Kurt could not be saved. It was reported that Bayraktar's treatment in the intensive care unit is ongoing.
An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
